Breathtaking landscapes, outdoor adventures, and pure relaxation – that’s what a summer holiday in Pyhä is made of, whether you stay for a day or a full week. Mountain biking, downhill trails, frisbee golf, and rock adventures offer active experiences for all ages, while the trails of Finland’s oldest national park feed your soul. Pyhä is easy to reach sustainably by train and bus.
Pyhätunturi is known for its rugged fells, rocky peaks, and dramatic gorges. Pyhä-Luosto National Park is easy to explore with children or even during a short stop along your journey. If you’re short on time, take the scenic lift to the summit and breathe in the clean, fresh mountain air.
Getting to Pyhä without a car is simple. Travel by train to Rovaniemi or Kemijärvi and continue by bus directly to Pyhä. The overnight train from Helsinki to Kemijärvi makes the journey effortless – you’ll wake up surrounded by peaceful northern nature.

Mountain Biking and Hiking for the Whole Family
Enjoy Pyhä’s nature even on a short visit by hopping on a bike. The Pyhä Flow downhill trail is perfect for both experienced riders and beginners, accessible via the PyhäExpress scenic lift. The Mini Flow is ideal for kids and first-timers, with an easy magic carpet lift and a safe 150-meter beginner-friendly track.
A scenic mountain biking tour through Pyhä-Luosto National Park takes you across open fell landscapes to Tiaislaavu hut, where you can enjoy a break and maybe even spot a Siberian jay. Continue along wooden duckboards through beautiful aapa mires.

The Peurakero loop offers stunning scenery but is technically demanding. Even experienced riders may need to walk sections between Kuorinkinharju and Karhunjuomalampi. Bikes and gear are available for rent in Pyhä.
Pyhä’s famous gorges are also accessible for families. Aittakuru’s natural amphitheatre can be reached even with strollers. The Karhunjuomalampi Trail leads to Isokuru, Finland’s deepest gorge, and to the sacred Pyhänkaste waterfall. The full route is about 10 km, but parts of it are accessible with strollers.
Rock Adventures and Frisbee Golf
At the PyhäKuru rock adventure park, you can climb steep cliffs, navigate rock formations, and zipline across a canyon. No previous experience is needed – the adventure is open to everyone over 120 cm tall and under 120 kg.
Frisbee golf enthusiasts will find excellent courses in Pyhä. The 18-hole Pro course challenges experienced players, while the scenic Peak course, starting from the summit, is perfect for beginners. Courses are free of charge, and discs are available for purchase or rent.
There is also a mini golf course in front of Hotel Pyhätunturi.
Art, History and Mythology
The Pyhä-Luosto fells are part of one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. Take the scenic lift to the summit and admire the unique beauty of Finnish nature – visitors have been reaching the top this way since 1965.
At the summit, explore the Huttu-Ukko Art Trail, featuring imaginative sculptures and swing installations. The trail is inspired by Pyhätunturi’s mythical guardian, Huttu-Ukko – a mysterious and slightly fearsome figure in local folklore.

At the top, you’ll also find Restaurant Tsokka and the cozy Pyhä Dreams wine bar, offering panoramic views through large windows.
The summer season in Pyhä begins at Midsummer. The scenic lift operates until 1 AM during the Midsummer night, allowing you to experience the magical midnight light. Read more.
