Permits for the pond can be obtained either from eraluvat.fi or from the Visitor Center Naava. There are boardwalks around the pond to facilitate casting lures from the beach. It is prohibited to use a boat in the pond. The pond is regularly stocked with catch size rainbow trout.

Pyhäjärvi lake and Pyhäjoki river provide a good fishing environment close to Pyhätunturi. The license is sold by the fishing community (only in Finnish). Angling and ice fishing with a single fishing rod are general fishing rights and do not require a special permit for Pyhäjärvi.
