What does omakase mean?
Omakase is a Japanese dining philosophy, translating loosely to “I’ll leave it to you.” At its core lies trust: the chef creates the evening’s menu based on the season, the finest available ingredients, and their own creative vision.
This philosophy aligns naturally with Aihki, where surprise menus and seasonal offerings are central to the restaurant’s identity. At the Aihki x Shii dinner, omakase-thinking blends seamlessly with the northern flavour world and the craftsmanship of modern Japanese cuisine.
During the evening, the collaboration between the two kitchens becomes tangible in both taste and presentation: the menu unfolds as an interplay between Aihki’s northern elements and the pure ingredients of Lapland, complemented by SHII’s modern Japanese precision and visual elegance.
Aihki x Shii – A brief description of the menu and experience
- An omakase-inspired tasting menu created jointly by both kitchens
- Flavours of northern forests, lakes, and seasons in harmony with refined Japanese techniques
- A balanced and immersive culinary journey from start to finish
Our guest for the evening…
We are delighted to welcome Chef Nadim Nasser, owner and head chef of SHII — an intimate and acclaimed omakase restaurant in Helsinki. SHII is known for its refined and artful omakase experience, where modern Japanese cuisine meets both European and Japanese ingredients in perfect balance.
Nadim Nasser brings with him SHII’s culinary philosophy: meticulous craftsmanship, aesthetic harmony, and deep respect for every flavour. Throughout the evening, guests will experience moments where taste, form, and emotion come together as a truly unforgettable culinary experience.
