A Free Cycling Adventure for the Whole Family

Lake Steward Ahti woke up this morning to some bad news: 9 fish have mysteriously disappeared from Lake Pyhäjärvi. According to the latest sightings, the missing fish are hiding along the cycling route that circles the lake. They have concealed themselves in route markers, signposts, or poles, waiting to be found. Ahti now needs your help: hop on your bikes, keep your eyes peeled, and collect the letters from the missing fishes’ word puzzle.

Bring the route map and search for the fish along the trail

  • Collect the clues: Each fish you find contains a number and a letter.
  • Solve the puzzle once you have completed the entire route and found all the fish.

Direction of travel

We recommend cycling the 17-kilometre route counterclockwise. This way, you can enjoy riding downhill on the slopes of Soutaja Hill.

Time

Allow at least 2 hours for the trip so that you have enough time to carefully inspect every signpost.

Rest stops and snack tips

Searching for the fish can be tiring, so it is a good idea to refuel and take a short break along the way. Please check the cafés’ opening hours in advance, as they may vary.

Lucky Ranch Summer Café in Pyhäjärvi Village

(Antti +358 40 7540 683 / Anu +358 50 3550 744)

A cosy spot right on the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi. Enjoy light snacks, cold drinks, and refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere, either indoors or on the scenic terrace.

Mokkatupa Social Dining

(+358 50 344 5262)

A charming and homely café and lunch restaurant by the lakeshore. In addition to a delicious lunch, you can treat yourself to freshly baked pastries and bread. The indoor seating area is a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the view.

Kairosmaja Café

(+358 207 681 730)

A welcoming café located on dry land beside the main road. You will need to make a small detour from the cycling route, but it offers an excellent stop before the final section of the trail. While there, you can also visit the Revontuli Chapel next to the café. The chapel is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Bring Your Own Snacks

You can also pack your own treats and head to Asteli Beach for a picnic. The beach has a cosy lean-to shelter, an outdoor toilet, and a sandy shoreline where you can rest your legs or even take a refreshing swim in the lake.

Pick Up a Route Map or Rent a Bicycle

You can rent a bicycle for your adventure from Pyhähippu, or ride your own bike and collect a route map from the Pyhähippu office.
